I'm often asked why I want to be an MP - and the answer, is that it is the only job in the world where you get to help people on an individual basis, whilst also changing the law to make your community, and country, a better place to be.
Several years ago, I worked as part of a team of 3 on a campaign to tackle youth unemployment. I was the lead economist on the campaign and we were successful in lobbying the chancellor to change the law. This change in law supports business by making it cheaper for them to hire people, and supports young people by making them more financially attractive to businesses.
I intend to use this experience of campaigning, lobbying, and working to change the law to support the needs of our community, and country, for the better.
