My Week 3/2/2015

Campaigning with Syed KamallWith only 93 days to go, we have started work on our next leaflet so keep an eye out for them in the next few weeks! As ever, we have lots of opportunities for you to get involved and would love to see you out on the doorstep or at 495 Norwood Road for a chat about the campaign.

To make it easier to forward plan, we have a great calendar on our website to show you where we are meeting and on which days. | Calendar

East Dulwich & West Dulwich Doorknocking

We had a great evening on Tuesday last week knocking on doors near East Dulwich station. I was very pleased by the number of people who expressed in interest in hearing about what we are doing locally and we picked up new supporters. We also delivered lots of leaflets for the "Compensation for Commuters" campaign that we are running and have had many people signing the petition.

Syed Kamall (MEP for London) galvanised a large group of us to go out in West Dulwich on Saturday morning. Despite the (freezing!) cold weather, around 12 very enthusiastic volunteers showed up and we managed to speak to lots of residents about their issues and concerns especially with regard to changes to local roads and speed limits. We warmed ourselves up with some drinks and laughs in the Alleyn's Head after campaigning.

Dulwich Community Council

Last Wednesday, I attended the Dulwich Community Council. I was able to speak to lots of attendees about their concerns and questions about the local area and it was great to get an update on important developments such as the Dulwich Hospital Site, local policing and traffic issues. I was pleased that so many people were in the room - it is great to know we all care so much about our local area!

Fundraiser with The Rt. Hon. Nicky Morgan MP - Secretary of State for Education

With Nicky MorganLast night we had the pleasure of hearing from The Rt. Hon. Nicky Morgan about the forthcoming election and other important political matters. This was particularly well timed given that Nicky had just announced her plans for education in Britain after the General Election. We were treated to delicious food, the wine was flowing and guests were able to talk to me about our local campaign, as well as able to mingle with two wonderful candidates - Kim Caddy, PPC for Streatham and Paul Scully, PPC for Sutton & Cheam. On top of a wonderful evening, we also managed to raise funds to support future campaigning activity.

Fundraiser with a Senior Cabinet Member - further information

I am delighted to say that a Senior Cabinet Member will be joining us at a Mayfair hotel on the 4th of March from 6.15-8.45pm to discuss the General Election, the work of the Conservative Government and the importance of the work we are doing in Dulwich & West Norwood. For security reasons, I won't be able to reveal the name yet but I will do soon! Please note the date in your diary and I will send out an official invitation shortly.

Future Campaign days

As always, I would love to see as many people as possible. We will be out this evening, meeting at the junction of Rosendale and Clive Road at 7pm. Please do come along after work and help us talk to as many people as possible!
On Saturday morning, we will be canvassing in Knight's Hill ward and we will meet at 10.30am at 495 Norwood Road.

If there is anything I can do to help you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best Wishes,

Resham Kotecha
