My Week 09/2/2015

Resham KotechaWe're only 87 days from the election and I'm pleased to say that our latest leaflet has started hitting doorsteps! We have lots of different ways for you to get involved - from social events to fundraisers to campaign days.

To make it easier to forward plan, we have a great calendar on our website to show you where we are meeting and on which days.

Telephone Canvassing and Doorknocking in Knight's Hill

For the first time, the weather was cold enough that I and the other volunteers on Tuesday evening decided to surrender and spent the evening calling constituents and telephone canvassing. I think many of the people we called were pleased that they could speak to us without having to stand at their doors in the cold! We managed to speak to far more constituents on the phone than we could have spoken to on the doorstep.

On Saturday we had a great time knocking on doors speaking to people and delivering our new leaflets in Knight's Hill. We had a positive response and we definitely got a work out from all the delivering!

Women2Win Fundraiser

Resham Kotecha and Theresa May

I have worked for Women2Win (a Conservative organisation aimed at getting more women into Parliament) for almost three years now and was flattered to be asked to speak about my experience about being a candidate - on the same stage as The Rt. Hon. Theresa May MP. The evening gave me an opportunity to speak to the Home Secretary about the election and to get her advice on my campaign.

West Norwood Library

On Saturday afternoon, I met with the Friends of West Norwood Library to discuss the (slow!) progress that is being made with regard to restoring the library. Many constituents have complained to me about the length of time that it has taken to resolve the matter. I'm pleased to say that the council are waiting for costings from the Ritzy group after which hopefully we will hear about a more concrete timetable for the reopening of the library.

Future Campaign days

As always, I would love to see as many people as possible. We will be out tomorrow evening meeting at 7pm at 495 Norwood Road to canvas in Thurlow Park. We will be celebrating Stuart's birthday with drinks afterwards!

On Saturday we will be going to Croydon Central to support Gavin Barwell MP to hold his seat. This is vital if we want to see a Conservative Government after May so I hope that you will be able to join us.

If there is anything I can do to help you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best Wishes,

Resham Kotecha
